Grandma
I’m still grieving for you
grandma.
dearest hill, benign presence,
always in my landscape
looking on, rooted in me
Part of my “I Am”
like the reassuring gravity of
solid earth beneath my feet
Always you were quietly there
So part of all I knew of life
I could afford the luxury
not to forget you were there
No, not ever,
but to accept without thought or question
the warm smell of love
And always you...
The Firecrest (By Matt)
Lickety split the sprite
Zips, flits, ochre tinges tremble
Blaze crown drips fire
Olive wings flick,
Gone.

Loving memories
Now you are gone
I am left
Catching at my memories of you
Like butterflies.
Chasing swiping
My net
reaching stretching
Mental sinews
For fear I will lose them
Lose you.
If one is caught
Stick it down
Pinning tight my memories of you
Like butterflies.
Straining hurting
My heart
Holding heaving
My breath
For fear I will lose them
Lose you.

Spring
Sunlight breaks through cloud-beds
And bowed trees
shoot forth green hope.
Buttercup winks
from sodden earth,
Moonflower daisies
Spring from unseen homes.
High, high up,
on whirlpool skies
Swifts skate and wheel,
Waiting for the blue promise,
Screaming with the breathless joy of spring.
The Wait
Each day we wake and move ourselves forward,
Acting out the cheerful,
the mundane,
what is expected of us.
Inside ourselves we are living in freeze-frame,
Time hangs suspended,
we dangle,
from what is promised to us.
