I’m fond of this. The project was to base it on a landscape photo, working in the style of someone else, but using collage as well as paint. I think the idea was to find ways fo working from photos that wasn’t just copying. I used the Canadian painter Emily Carr as my inspiration, and the photo was of Canadian woods in the Rockies. This is quite reminsicent of her style - naive colours and shapes, and a lot of intense atmosphere. I am really pleased with the mood and atmosphere in this piece, it does take me back to Canada; but feel its is rather clumsily executed.
